History:
Fish Mountain was named after Daniel Fish, an early settler of Lake Pleasant. Daniel was born in Rhode Island, moved to Massachusetts and Vermont and finally by 1806 ended up in Lake Pleasant. During the War of 1812, Daniel enlisted and died in 1814 at Fort Erie in Upper Canada (near Niagara Falls).
Daniel's wife, Susanna died in 1849 and is buried in Fish Mountain Cemetery. She is buried near a woman named Submit Fish, wife of Joseph Fish who is Daniel and Susanna's son. Joseph is also buried here and became a famous country judge for Hamilton County. He also was Town Supervisor, Town Clerk, Superintendent of Schools and an assessor.
Daniel's granddaughter, Deliverance (daughter of Joseph), married George W Courtney in 1847 and today there are still descendents of this family living here in Lake Pleasant. Daniel's daughter, Elizabeth, married Willis Nichols around 1826. they too still have descendents living here in Lake Pleasant.
