One of two Civil War themed micro caches, located in Philippi, WV. This is a log only cache, so bring your own writing utensil.
The Philippi covered Bridge was the site of the first land battle of the Civil War. On June 3, 1861, Union troops led a surprise attack on Confederate troops under the command of Colonel George Porterfield. The attack caused the Confederate troops to retreat. Union troops took command of the bridge and used it as a barracks. The victory strengthened the Union position in western Virginia and discouraged secessionist movements.

This cache is a magnetic key holder and is easily accessible.

Found it after a short hunt. Coords had me looking in the wrong spot. Good hiding spot, though.

Nice find, and got a chance to walk through the nearby cemetery, which has some very old graves. Some of the historical markers around town refer to the Zinn family, whose graves are right near the cache site. Had to make quick work of the retrieval as lots of traffic was zipping by on the highway.
