NOTE: THE DATE HAS INADVERTENTLY CHANGED TO A WEEK LATER!!
NEW NOTE: THE SITE HAS CHANGED. WE NO LONGER WILL BE MEETING AT
MR. PG. SEE DETAILS BELOW!
Don't worry, that should be it for changes!
Come join us and help clean up Prince George after the snow has
all melted. Let's meet at the parking lot near the McDonalds on
Massey and Westwood near Pine Centre at 10a.m. rain or shine (but
hopefully shine!).
This CITO event will take place in the greenbelt behind the
above mentioned restaurant. This area will have accumulated lots of
litter from all the winter months so we will have our work cut out
for ourselves. This CITO event is being put on concurrent with the
City of Prince George's 2009 Spring Clean Up. 17 000 kilograms of
garbage was picked up in each of the last two years Spring Clean
Ups. It's exciting for us local cachers to be pitching in (so
to speak) to help spruce up our community this year.
The City of Prince George will be providing garbage bags and
gloves. I will pick these up from them on April 21. They will also
be coming by to collect the full bags afterwards from alongside the
road so we don't need to do much more than pick, pack and tie.
We will meet at 10 a.m. at the parking lot and go from there. I
am hoping for a turn out of at least 7-10 cachers (The more the
merrier, of course). It should take us no longer than 2 hours
to cover the area. Plumbrokeacres has graciously offered to donate
a couple of his unactivated geocoins as a prize and I will sift
through mine stack and also come up with one to offer as a prize.
Also, every attendee will get one of my new pathtags if they would
like one.
What should I bring to this event?
- Heavy duty work gloves/garden-gloves (Thin latex gloves
will be available)
- Hat
- appropriate outerwear
- appropriate footwear (rubber boots??)
- Water
- Snacks
- Camera
Other items that are unnecessary but would be good to bring
along if you have them are litter picker upper or poker, reflective
vests (I will be bringing a bunch for those cachers who don't
have them), I have purchased a case of water and hand
sanitizer for us and will grab some donuts or something like that
for a snack as well.
