Why we placed this cache
On March 13, 2016, our family completed the goal to fill the 366 days found grid.
It took some effort, but we had fun along our journey.
The memories we achieved will stay with us for a long time!
We are placing this cache to commemorate this achievement.
We quickly agreed this cache should be something different, special or unusual.
Once you find this cache, we believe and hope you will agree.
The background story of this cache
When Dad hawkeyetob was a youth, his family would take him to flea markets.
This was an activity which he was not all that fond of at the time.
On one occasion, his mother gave him $3.
She urged him to explore and find something he liked...anything at all.
Words she would soon regret!
After wandering around a bit, he came upon a grizzled farmer in bib overalls and feed hat.
In front of the farmer was a table displaying all kinds of unusual things.
Young hawkeyetob and the farmer got to chatting.
Apparently, some time ago, the farmer got into a tractor rollover accident.
What the farmer received as a result was not suitable to him.
Farmers being the ingenious folks they are, the clever farmer came up with a better solution.
Young hawkeyetob was fascinated about what the farmer created.
The farmer said he wandered around his shop tinkering.
He would try a bit of this or that…screen door spring, an old pulley, sheet metal.
Noticing his interest in the item, the farmer asked young hawkeyetob if he was buying.
Hawkeyetob pulled out the $3 from his Mother and said “I only have $3.”
The farmer, chuckled and said “Why, that happens to be the EXACT sales price for my friends!”
The purchase has been at the hawkeyetob house for years and is now at ground zero.
The only alteration is a coat of paint applied by the hawkeyetob family.
