Passing Stones Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Team Rampant Lion: I'm moving west (SF) so asked some friends to help me clean up. Treequest was kind enough to help remove this cache. Thank you very much.

Geocache Description:

This cache is located in the Sparta Mountain WMA. Hunting is present (except on Sundays). Remember to wear orange when in season.

The name of this cache has nothing to do with its difficulty. It is more to do with the fact that as I was looking for a spot, I noticed the clusters of large stones in the area.

This cache is not far off trail so no need for bushwacking until you are close. It is a typical ammo can tucked in a nice but not too difficult a hide spot. This cache is being place in advance of Sparta Mountain Day to create a nice circuit for the geocaching classes I will be leading. But it will remain in place long after that event.

I should mention that I used three GPS to get coordinates for this spot. Two (both Magellan SporTraks) gave me a consistent reading which is noted above. The third ( a Magellan eXplorist) gave me a reading of N41 02.837 W074 32.996. Try this if you are having difficulty.

There are a fair number of bears in this area although they also never bother people. Know what to do and it will be an enjoyable experience.

There an unactivated Caching Through The Snow III coin in the cache for the first to find cacher.
