Geocache Description:

Cathedral Peak - 3004m

First Ascent of the peak was made in 1917 by the prolific hiking team of D. Bassett-Smith and R. Kingdom.

The summit is a breathtaking vantage point from which to access the full 100 km grandeur of the Drakensberg's finest face.

It is a grade "C" Scrable to the summit from Orange Peel Gap and should not be attempted if you are afraid heights, as you will be tested.

The hike is 19km return and can be completed in approx 9 - 10hrs at a steady pace. One should always respect the mountains and take adequate food, water and protective clothing. The weather can change quickly thus keeping an eye out for bad weather is essential.
