rvstauff: Time to let this go.

Thanks for those that took the time to hunt this multi!

I really liked this one. I hate to see it go.

I may resurrect stages 1 and 2 at some time.

Geocache Description:

Executive summary: Go to the posted coordinates, solve rvstauff's fun and easy puzzle, go to the crime scene, find clue as to where to go - there will be camo duct tape around... All hides are very easy. Stage 1 is not IN the wall. Do not make Stage 2 too hard! The final is a very common cache hiding style.

*****Urgent Message from the Mint Hill Police Department*****

A "geocacher" by the screen name of "rvstauff" was found wandering up and down HWY 51 in Mint Hill today. His hands were bound and his mouth gagged with camo duct tape. He was also apparently beaten over the head with a blunt object and is suffering amnesia. Medical examiners feel he was hit over the head with a metal box of some kind. The victim can't remember anything about what happened, or even what geocaching is in the first place.

Witnesses reported quite an arguement between the victim and his assailant. Apparently the two were arguing about placement of "caches". The victim, rvstauff, was reported to say "Go hide your lame cache someplace else - there are plenty of other lamp posts out there just as boring as this one!" The assailent reportedly replied "I wish you people would stop hiding multis - they take too much time to find and use up too much space! Who wants to spend all that time when you can rack up your cache count with LPCs?" We at the police department have no idea what this all means.

To help us solve the case, we have brought in a profiler and based on the sketchy information we were able to provide, the profiler gave us four pieces on information that may or may not lead to an arrest:

* "The Attacker has a fettish of sorts with camo duct tape. He most likely covers all sorts of items in this duct tape and may even make items out of the material."
* "The Attacker's hideout is most likely near an near endless supply of Film Cannisters and Altoids Mints."
* "The Attacker's hideout is behind a lamp post by some evergreen trees."
* "The Attacker's hideout is most likely close to a dumpster."

What these items have to do with this case, we do not have the slightest idea. How this profiler came up with this information is also beyond our comprehension....

This is where you come in.... We have researched this "geocaching" and after talking to rvstauff's non-caching-spouse, apparently the victim was preparing for some contest put on by the local geocaching club. Below is what he had prepared before the brutal attack. We tried to find clues at the cache site, but we did not have the know-how how to proceed once at the coordinates listed. You, being another "geocacher" can hopefully decode the clues left behind by rvstauff. Along the way hopefully you will find evidence left behind by the attacker. If you find rvstauff's intended hide, evidence should be very close by. Between the evidence left behind from the attack and the information from our profiler, we hope you can find the attacker's hideout.

Below is the unfinished "cache page" for what rvstauff was attempting to place when he was so brutally attacked. Please help us bring the criminal to justice! We fear that other creative cachers may also be in danger - we need to bring this criminal to justice before he attacks again.

Please provide information regarding your investigation below in your "found it" logs. DO NOT REMOVE ANY EVIDENCE from the crime scene - PLEASE replace everything exactly as you found it.

Many thanks to TermiteHunter for breaking this case wide open! We still need more information, so please continue to gather clues for us and share information below!
