Temmacho Rouyasiki Ato
The Temmacho jail residence was the maximum prison in the whole country in Edo period. It was moved to this ground to have been put the Tokiwa bridge outside the gate during a heaven positive year (?1591 1573) by the beginning in 1677 (1677), and became rule of the magistrate of the Edo-cho.
The Temmacho jail residence was did not exist as a principle in the criminal law in Edo period the punishment that belonged to a present penal servitude and the confinement, and facilities that imprisoned the unconvicted prisoner rather than the prison at the present age, and were near the prison where the condemned was punished.
At that time, a vast area is said that there was an area of the possession 2618 tsubos (about 8639 square meters).
The Ichigaya prison prison is made and it is abolished, and the jail residence mark is ten [omokouen], a village cloud branch temple, and large comfortable temple, etc. in 1875(1875).

伝馬町牢屋敷跡
伝馬町牢屋敷は、江戸時代、全国最大の牢屋でした。天正年間(1573年〜1591年)、常盤橋門外に置かれたのが最初で、延宝5年(1677年)にこの地に移され、江戸町奉行の支配となりました。
江戸時代の刑法には現在の懲役や禁固に類する処罰が原則として存在せず、伝馬町牢屋敷は現代における刑務所というより、未決囚を収監し、死刑囚を処断する拘置所に近い性質を持った施設でした。
当時は広大な広さを持ち2618坪（約8639平方メートル）の広さがあったと言われています。
明治8年(1875年)、市ヶ谷囚獄ができて廃止され、牢屋敷跡は十思公園・村雲別院・大安楽寺などになっています。
この牢獄には高野長英や吉田松陰も収監されていたそうです。
