‘Nuraghe Serbissi’
The village of Taquisara belongs to the municipality of Gairo, and was built when the floods of 1950’s destroyed the old town.
The most well-preserved nuragic complex is that of Serbissi, formed of a small village made up of eight huts and guard towers, dating from the Bronze Age. The towers reach a height of over 6m and give an exceptional view of the area stretching from Mount Gennargentu to the north and Perd’e Liana to the west.
This site is very unique because of its structural complexity and for the cave below. The cave has It has 3 entrances: 2 in Osini (one is a well but you cannot enter), the other is in “Gairo Taquisara.
The cave has been used by the habitants of the Nuraghe and by those of the huts – (Bronze Age XV1 – X11 B.C. The cave was probably used for the preservation of food, which was obtained by hunting activities, sheep-farming/sheep-breeding and agriculture. Inside the cave there is a spring and it was thought that many people had lived there.

Il complesso nuragico meglio conservato è sicuramente quello di Serbissi, formato da un nuraghe trilobato con copertura a tolos e da un piccolo villaggio costituito da otto capanne, la cui frequentazione è proseguita durante tutte le fasi dell’età del bronzo. Il nuraghe è composto da una torre centrale in posizione preminente, che si eleva per un’altezza di 6,30 metri ed è dotato di una tholos ancora integra, e da tre torri disposte in maniera irregolare. Il nuraghe, che si trova a 960 metri sul livello del mare, gode di un eccezionale dominio visivo che va dai monti del Gennargentu a nord a Perd ’e Liana a ovest. La particolarità del sito sta, oltre che nella sua complessità strutturale, nella presenza nell’area sottostante di una cavità naturale a sviluppo orizzontale che presenta due ingressi, uno nel versante di Gairo Taquisara, l’altro in quello di Osini, forse utilizzata per la conservazione di derrate alimentari.
