Geocache Description:

These are not the final coordinates. Solve the puzzle to find the cache. You'll need a writing stick & paper to decode the text message or at least to sign the logsheet.

In 1845 Asa Lovejoy and Francis Pettygrove took possession of the land claim at what is now Downtown Portland. Lovejoy wanted to name the city after his hometown of Boston, and Pettygrove favored his hometown name of Portland, Maine. The two agreed to let the flip of a coin determine the name and of course Pettygrove won on two out of three tosses. The coin, now known as the "Portland Penny" is on display at the Oregon Historical Society.
The coin flip actually took place at the Ermatinger home in Oregon City. Built in 1845, this is the oldest house in Clackamas County. It is used to host classes and other events such as Living History Teas where visitors can experience a bit of 1860s life with characters from Oregon’s past.

The house originally stood in downtown Oregon City but was moved as industry took over the area. The posted coordinates take you to Jacobs Memorial Square, just across the street from where the Ermatinger house now stands.

Jacobs Memorial Square has plaques commemorating the founders of the Oregon City Woolen Mills. The Woolen mill must have been quite close to where the Ermatinger house orignally stood. The Blue Heron Paper Company occupies that area today.

Using information on the plaques, decode the clue to the where the cache is hidden.

The cache is hidden within a block of the plaques. Is it at the Ermatinger House? or in the Peace Garden just West of the plaques? Or over in the Carnegie Center Park? or somewhere else?

Here's the clue:

2/2/5 - 1/1/14 - 1/2/9 - 1/5/2 - 2/1/3 - 2/1/6 - 3/1/4 - 3/14/2 - 1/10/1 - 1/12/14 - 3/4/4 - 2/1/1 - 2/1/20 - 3/1/8

(History buffs - Listen to info about the Ermatinger House via the Mt Hood Territory 'Tele-Tales' line, 503-342-3597 6#. Note that the info from the Tele-Tales recording is not needed to solve this puzzle cache.)
