On June 11th 1931 Ian Beaton was killed when his car was in
collision with a Rolls Royce at this junction - at the inquest
several local North Kensington residents averred this junction was
a well known accident black-spot caused by a phantom number 7
Routmaster bus which was seen late at night with lights blazing. It
would slow down at bus stops, but just as passengers attempted to
board would accellerate away and disappear, leaving the astonished
queue to realise that there was no driver, conductor or passengers
visible!
The garden wall opposite was chamfered back to improve the sight
lines as a result; the 7 still turns at this crossroads
Look for a RAY of sunsine on W10.
This is a busy public corner, but you can sit on the low wall
reasonably unobtrusively.
