The GPS reading at the parking area was at or about N 45 38.173 W 121 44.517. The trail head is on the north side of the road and heads up to the west into the Mark O. Hatfield forest. At the top of the trail, turn right toward North Lake.
This will not be very accessible in the Winter.
Can you find your way to Dee, Oregon near Hood River? The road to Dee divides into Lost Lake Road and Punchbowl road at a T. Go to the right and continue straight on Punchbowl Road. (If you follow the dotted lines on the road to the west you will no longer be on Punchbowl and you’ll wind up in the orchards on Green Road instead of by the river.) Follow Deadpoint road 2820 toward Rainy Lake. Veer left staying on the main road (which means on the way down make sure to turn to your right and not head toward Mt. Defiance.) Stay on this washboard road just past mile post 9.
In early August the local Girl Scout troop went on their first overnight pack in hike to North Lake. My co-leader and I hiked the trail the week before and stashed an ammo box to create a cache with the girls. The next week when we hiked in, the ammo box was gone, so we had to postpone the cache until I got another container up there.
The girls wanted to be called the Chica Warriors and the Gnome Home Builders. We wanted the choice campsite on the south end of the lake but settled for one on the north side. It is about a mile up to the lake from the trailhead.
