Rochester Rotary River Overlook Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

-allenite-: As there's been no response from the cache owner to my previous note, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

Geocache Description:

Discover Rochester Hill's newest park off the Clinton River Trail. Easy 1/2 mile walk off Livernois.

You are looking for a plastic box about 6 inches by 4 inches by 4 inches (box was replaced with a new box in August 2016). I discovered a new river overlook located off the Clinton River Trail. The trail is a hard packed converted rail bed and can be walked, biked, stroller, etc. The overlook was opened in September 2007. The best place to park is at the Veteran's Memorial Pointe city park located on Livernois, just south of Avon (N42°39.867' W83°9.181'). From the parking lot (rest rooms available) you head slightly south and then join the trail heading southwest. The overlook is less than 1/2 mile down the trail. You can also reach this spot from the South joining the trail as it crosses Hamlin Rd, just east of Crooks. But there is no good public parking there. There are barbed wire fences running parallel to the trail so if you want to park in the commercial areas at the south, Beware!

We started the cache off with a photo of our dog Penny, a geocoin, a Travel Bug, and a few trinkets from other caches. Happy Hunting! Check out the other caches northeast on the Clinton River Trail.

Some final thoughts based on seeker's experience: This is an EASY cache. I do this with my young daughters and we're disappointed when we can't find a cache. So we tried to make this easy. To be honest, you can probably find this one without a GPS unit by reading carefully at the description and the hint. Also, this cache is on the SOUTH side of the river. Don't try to find from Rochester City Hall or the Nature Center unless you don't mind getting wet!
