Easy enough to figure out the access trails if you use a GPS! (sorry, couldn't resist!) The site is about two or so miles beyond parking. 1000 ft plus vertical gain.

You can get there in sneaks but the last part is wet. If you are a gravity junkie you can also pedal most of it. At elevation 1475 it's a push, at 1875 you hikeabike the last 260 vert. Makes for a real steep technical decent. Fun if you are into that sort of thing, don't even try it if you are not an expert.

Great trail till the last little bit, then it gets muddy. Continue on. Just as you are breaking out of treeline you'll meet pretty much the last half dozen spruce. Look around for a logical stash.

Have fun with the camera! When the film is done, let me know or better yet bring it down and contact me for coordinates or another geocache site to bring it to. I'll post the images for all to enjoy!

I grew up in this neighborhood and still finding more ways to have fun in these hills!

6/06 MAJOR UPDATE from the cacher: Due to changes that life throws at you/me, I haven't been able to maintain the cache (which is now missing, darn it). It just isn't possible for me to get there at this time. I'd gladly accept some help in maintaining the cache. Contact me if interested in that.

Cache Logs
September 18 by Mountain Lovers (5853 found)
Our last full day of our Alaskan vacation. We woke up to the sun shining and blue sky's. We has high hopes of hiking Near Peak and now with the mountain gods shining upon us, we had to go.
We fumbled our way to the parking area and set off @ 9:35am. A nice trail for the better part of the hike & then the fun started. We love this type of hiking. A no non-sense trail and a view to kill as we made our way up. The grass was wet from yesterday's rain but we expecting nothing less. McKinnley was out in full force as was every peak north & south. After a good walk to higher ground, we finally arrived at GZ @ 11:20am. We thought about the cache name and thought A Room With A View At Slushy Meadow fit the bill for the day. Mud was everywhere. Pam had one foot go in about 10". We were able to get photo's of moose, fox and possibly wolf tracks in the mud. On our way up there was a moose on the ridge to the north, that was sweet. No bears were seen. The view of the city as well as everywhere else was outstanding today. It was even better once we made it to Near Paek. TFTC

Due to time constraints and sucking mud, I was unable to complete my mission. I'll have to go back and give it another shot.

TFTC found it safe and sound. Trail was getting pretty muddy up toward the top. The color's are nice though.
