To kick off the caching season, the British Columbia Geocaching
Association is once again sponsoring a month long Cache
Blitz. Last year 62 new caches were placed over a five
week period. Let's see if we can do even better this year! Here's
how it works:

- Cache placement participants will place one or more
caches.
- Any type of cache (puzzle, multi, etc.) and size is
eligible.
- Create a geocaching.com listing for the cache, making sure it
meets all the regular GC approvals. The name of the cache must
start with "Cache Blitz:" so we know it is part of this event. For
example, it might be "Cache Blitz: Billy's Cache". Please remember
to remove the text "Cache Blitz:" from your cache name after the
event is over.
- Caches must be released between March 1st and March 31st. The
earlier the cache is released the better. This ensures that people
have a chance to visit the cache before the final event. The more
people that visit, the better your chances of winning
prizes.

- Go out and find them! It's not a race. Do 1, do 10, do them
all, just have some fun!
- Each caching day, log your finds online at geocaching.com.
- Send an email to
BC Geocaching Event Coordinator and comment on why you think a
particular cache should be recognized. Please provide the GC number
and cache name for reference.
- Prize categories will be determined by the judges based on the
submissions received and may include some of the following:
-
- Best view
- Most muddy
- Challenging hide
- Nice walk or hike
- Interesting spot
- Tricky puzzle or mystery cache
- Nifty container or camouflage
- Best series
- Great cache page
- Best cache log
- Funniest cache log
- Great kids cache
- A panel of volunteer judges will review all logs and emailed
feedback for Cache Blitz caches and determine the winners. Actual
prize categories will be determined by the judges based on the
feedback that is received by cache visitors, so remember to send it
in!

- The main event is scheduled for Saturday April 8th, 2006 from
5:30 - 8:00 PM.
- We will all meet at Place Maillardville in Coquitlam for food,
fun and prizes!
- This is a potluck event! We ask that you bring
some sort of dish to share with everybody. When you respond to the
event, have a look to see what other people are bringing. We would
like to try to balance the types of food so we don't have all
desserts on the table – we're sure you don't want to have to peel
your little cachers off the roof from the sugar high! We also ask
that you write a short description of your dish to place beside the
food in case we have people with food allergies.
- Prizes will be awarded, but you must be at the event in person
to win. If you aren't there, the prize will be awarded to a runner
up.
- To help offset the expenses associated with this event, such as
the cost of the hall, we would appreciate a $5.00 per
person donation at the door or whatever you feel is
reasonable. This donation isn't required, but will be greatly
appreciated!
Remember:
- Don't leave this until a week before the event – place your
cache(s) ASAP. The more caches placed the more to find!
- Put "Cache Blitz:" at the beginning of your cache name, so the
judges know what caches to look at.
- Remove "Cache Blitz:" from the cache title within a few days
after the event.
- Visit this page for updates!
- This event is open to all geocachers. You do not need to have
placed a Cache Blitz cache, or even found one, to attend this
event!
We are actively looking for people to donate some prizes, so
please
contact us if you are interested in helping out!
NOTE: Anybody planning on attending please
indicate so by posting a "Will Attend" log here and noting what
food you will be bringing. We need to have an accurate count of the
number of people who will be attending this event. If you are
bringing children, please indicate how many and their ages in your
log here, or email us via our profile. This will help us plan
something special for the kids.
We would like to thank the following cachers for generously
donating prizes for this event:
- 911turbos
- Awesome One & Mrs.
- Boundless
- Icenrye
- kittyclan
- MrGigabyte
- MsChief Gps_y
