Join us for a Flash Mob event to celebrate that extra day we get every 4 years. What better way to spend it than on caching time! Even better, Groundspeak is awarding a new souvenir for attending an event on Leap Day, and another for finding any cache (other than an event) between 2/27-2/29. It's rated a D4 only because Leap Day only comes around every four years.
This one will last exactly 29 minutes. At exactly 5:00 pm, attendees all arrive at GZ (aka GaZebo.) Sign the log, meet and greet your fellow cachers for a few minutes, then disperse and be gone again by 5:29. (1700-1729 for you military timekeepers.)
We'll have a table for trackables and trades, and some brownies for those cacher sweet tooths.
Let's hope the weather is better than the 2012 version - GC3B78V - when we had a blizzard that evening. Thirteen brave souls still showed up to celebrate the day!
And then there was my other Flash Mob at this location - GC31TVQ - planned for 9/4/11. Lest we forget, Tropical Storm Irene tried very hard to destroy much of the area just one week before the event. It too went on as planned, in spite of many closed roads, and about 20 cachers found their way here, one way or another!
Third time's the charm right? This year we're promising nice weather, an early spring, and sunshine and daffodils. Well, that's what Punxatawny Phil said. Blame him for anything else.
