Geocaching Today's Welsh Region Xmass Dinner Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Brenin Tegeingl: Well it's time to put this one to bed! A big thank you to all who attended and those who donated, even though they couldn't make it! The report in Gocaching Today Emag can be found here, www.geocachingtoday.com/MagArchives/Welshxmasdo.asp . Between the donation included in the meal, and the raffle held by our host Sue, we raised at least £77 for OVMRO, this figure does not include the amount raised by the purchase of items, sold by 333, the fund raising side of OVMRO. Which flew of the table. When you conceder that they need to raise at least £33,000 every year, our fund raising was very welcome.

See you all at the next event, were ever, and when ever that may be!

Dave

Geocache Description:

Geocaching Today's Welsh Region Christmas Dinner, and TB Swap Event, supporting a Mountain Rescue Team.

Well here it is a chance to have Christmas Dinner with some fine company, Swap TB'S and support OVMRO Mountain Rescue Team all at the same time. What more could you ask of a TB Swap event? To add to all this, the meal is located in a beautiful area of Wales, which happens to be a SSSI.

The Otter Restaurant and Cafe is located on the A5 not far from Betsw-Y-Coed, and was designed by Sir Clogh Williams-Ellis, who designed Portmeirion. At the back of the restaurant is 9 1/2 acres of ancient woodland, which has been designated a SSSI. Leading down to Rhaeadr Y Graig Lwlyd (Conway Falls), also the grounds are the home to Two Pygmy Goats, which were a birthday present in 1999, to Susan one of our hosts.

The Menu (Adults)

Starter of either Prawn Cocktail or Soup of the day.

Main Course, Roast Beef (Welsh) with all the trimmings

Desert, Apple Pie and Ice Cream

Tea or Coffee

Children's Meal

Desert, Chocolate Fudge Cake

There will be a Vegetarian option available, at the same price as the Adult meal(£10).

If anyone who wishes to attend has a special dietary need, please contact me, as the restaurant can cater for these

The all important times! As this is a TB swap event, would all who wish to swap TBs, arrive at the restaurant at about 13.00hrs (1pm), the meal will be about 14.00hrs (2pm).

Cost of Meal £10 for the Adult meal & £7 for the children's meal. Please note, this includes a donation to OVMRO who will be giving a after dinner talk and slide show.Unfortunately we have to charge a Deposit of £3 per head to cover the deposit for the booking. Please contact me thru my profile, with your bookings and to receive the address to send the deposit. Closing date for receipt of email of booking requirements will be the 16 October.

Everyone attending is requested to bring a Geocaching related gift of aprox £5 in value, for the Secret Santa. All Children (or Adults) Having a Children's Meal, will receive a filled cache container, enabling them to place their own cache.

Please note, the co-ords might change ever so slightly, as I worked out the co-ords with a OS map. I will correct them when we visit the restaurant to pay the deposit. Mapquest shows them to be slightly East of the junction of the A5/B4406 were the restaurant is located.
