The Muppet Show, a half-hour long musical comedy variety show, aired on TV from 1976-1981. The action in each episode included onstage acts and frantic backstage activity among emcee Kermit the Frog, his Muppet friends and a live celebrity. The creation of puppeteer Jim Henson, The Muppet Show introduced us to many endearing characters, many of whom are being celebrated with caches in and around the Whitnall Park/Root River Parkway area.
Pigs In Space
Pigs in Space is a parody of Star Trek, Lost In Space and other space operas of the 1960s and '70s. The crew is comprised of Dr. Julius Strangepork, Captain Link Hogthrob and First Mate Piggy. Strangepork is an elderly pig who speaks with a German accent. As resident scientist he often performs routine repairs on the vessel and offers commentary on nearby planets and approaching spacecraft. The Swinetrek is captained by Hogthrob, a blond, cleft-chinned pig with a lot of confidence and a high opinion of himself. His unbridled machismo is often a source of conflict for First Mate Piggy. Piggy is the voice of reason in each sketch and she often loses patience in her colleagues ignorance and naivete.
***MUPPET NEWSFLASH***
When we last left the Swinetrek it was orbitting out of control in a pine forest. Find Dr. Julius Strangepork and Captain Link Hogthrob to get the coordinates to where First Mate Piggy safely landed the spacecraft.
