Welcome to one of my favorite parks! Tucked away
here in the heart of Illinois, Walnut Point is home to a
great fishing spot and some amazing wildlife. I can't even count
the deer I saw while placing this cache. Be sure to keep your eyes
open for some great sights!
In fact, this park is so special to me that it deserved more
than just the run of the mill geocache. It deserved a well-thought
out multi-cache that will require you to spend a decent amount of
time searching. But, not to worry, the terrain is all very level
(you are in Illinois, remember?) and I don't think I made it too
difficult. Here's hoping you have fun!
This is a five stage multi-cache. The first four stages will
lead you through different areas of the park, picking up clues to
the final location. The posted coordinates are for the first leg of
the multi. Please use the provided parking spots throughout
the park, they're very convenient.
The first four steps are identical. They are
small, semi-transparent plastic containers. In an effort to be
less sadistic, here's a picture of one of them
next to my GPS so you get an idea of size. It is VERY
IMPORTANT that you consider where such a container can be
placed. Step three is especially troublesome (I think).
Inside each of the first four containers you will find a
laminated card with the coordinates for the next cache and a coded
hint about its location. You will also find part of the final
coordinates. You must assemble these in the proper order to find
the final cache.
PLEASE do not take the laminated cards. Return them to
their containers after getting the information.
The coordinates to the final cache will be assembled in this
order:
N 39° 41.AAB
W 88° CC.DDD
The final cache is a 4"x8"x12" clear Rubbermaid container loaded
with prizes. As always, take something and leave something (if you
wish) and sign the logbook. Please do not place the following items
in the Geocache: Food items, inappropriate, offensive, or hazardous
materials.
PLEASE be sure to place the containers back exactly as
you find them. Once you find them you'll understand why this is so
important.
I hope you enjoy the park. The surroundings here are beautiful
any time of year. Also, if you see one of the park employees,
please thank them for all the hard work they do and for allowing a
geocache to be placed here.

Have You Seen Me?
I am Roamin Gnome and I was last seen in this
cache on April 21, 2005. Shortly after that, this cache was
destroyed by animals. If you see me in the area, please take me
home with you! |
