Geocache Description:

You are looking for a small watertight container with camo tape on it. After finding this one visit the Radar Site (GC1Y09C).

During the Cold War the U.S. Military constructed 16 Nike Missile sites around the Los Angeles area. The first one was operation in 1950 and the last one was decommissioned in 1974. Today little remains of this interesting part of L.A. defense history. This is the location of the Integrated Fire Control site for the LA-32 Nike missile battery. Active from 1956 to 1974, LA-32 was built to defend Los Alamitos Naval Air Station to the west. The HIPAR (High-Powered Acquisition Radar) was located in the upper left corner of the installation next to the Integrated Fire Control (IFC) area, while the launch battery was located to the south of the Admin area (the T-shaped building to the southeast was occupied by the California Army National Guard). Nothing remains of the magazines and recently the administration building has been demolished.
