La Montagna racconta leggende: l’Osteria Bruciata
Numerose sono le strade che collegano l’Emilia-Romagna alla Toscana attraverso l’Appennino specie nel tratto tra Bologna e Firenze, in antichità poco più che mulattiere, poi carrozzabili, fino ai tracciati autostradali odierni. Però tra i passi della Futa e del Giogo c’è un altro passo, oggi totalmente abbandonato: il Passo dell’Osteria Bruciata. Si ritiene che tale passo si trovasse lungo il tracciato della Flaminia Minor risalente al 187 A.C., poi dal 1306, a seguito della fondazione da parte del Comune di Firenze delle “terre murate” di Scarperia (allora Castel San Barnaba) sul versante sud e di Firenzuola sul versante nord per opporsi al potere degli Ubaldini, feudatari di questa parte dell’Appennino, fu previlegiato il tracciato che passava per il passo del Giogo e il passo dell’Osteria Bruciata venne progressivamente abbandonato. In una carta del 1585 relativa ad una disputa giudiziaria su alcuni terreni si parla del passo dell’Osteria Bruciata e di una costruzione “ruinata” che si trovava al passo. Non è quindi certo, ma molto probabile che la costruzione “ruinata” fosse l’osteria che appunto vi si trovava. Ma veniamo alla leggenda, perché l’osteria fu bruciata? E perché non fu ricostruita? La leggenda narra che l’osteria fosse gestita da persone di malaffare: l’oste e la sua famiglia usavano uccidere nel sonno i malcapitati viandanti che pernottavano all’osteria, si impadronivano dei loro beni e imbandivano le loro carni ai passanti successivi, finché un giorno un frate proveniente da Bologna e diretto a Firenze si fermò alla locanda per rifocillarsi, il frate però non era uno sprovveduto e capi subito che quella che gli avevano imbandito non era carne di manzo, allora chiese di avere alcune libbre di carne da portare ai confratelli del Bosco ai Frati dove aveva intenzione di fare tappa. L’oste gli preparò le carni di un passante ucciso il giorno prima, ma il frate invece che dai confratelli, una volta arrivato a Sant’Agata del Mugello andò dalle guardie del vicariato, la carne fu riconosciuta come umana, partì un drappello di sbirri che salirono al passo, trovarono altri resti e le prove degli assassini, tutti i componenti della famiglia furono impiccati, l’osteria distrutta e bruciata affinché non fosse ricostruita. Si pensava che questa fosse una leggenda finché alcuni anni fa furono ritrovati alcuni resti di mura e un pavimento con tracce d’incendio. Cosa poi sia realmente successo nessuno lo sa.
Ho nascosto una cache proprio al passo che può essere raggiunto percorrendo il sentiero di crinale “00” sia dal Passo della Futa che dal Passo del giogo, può anche essere raggiunto da sud da Sant’Agata del Mugello percorrendo una strada che nell’ultimo tratto è sterrata (e brutta) fino alla località l’Apparita e poi proseguendo sul sentiero 44, oppure da nord partendo da Roncopiano che è forse la strada più breve, anche se più ripida.
Mi raccomando: il cibo portatevelo da casa!
The mountain tells legends: the Burnt Inn
There are several roads connecting Bologna and Florence through the Appennines, their passes are known from the roman age, once muletracks, nowadays highways. Between the passes of La Futa and Il Giogo, there is another pass, now abandoned: tha pass of the Burnt Inn. Why this name? There is a legend about this: once at the pass there was an inn managed by scums: the innkeeper and his family used to kill the sleeping customers to sack their belongings and used to feed the next customers with their flesh! But one day a friar coming from Bologna and going to Florence, stopped at the inn for a meal, the friar wasn’t an incompetent and promptly understood the such meal wasn’t from a beef, so asked for some pound of meal to bring to his brothers of the convent Bosco ai Frati where he wanted to stop. The innkeeper gave him the flesh of a customer killed the day before, but the friar as he arrived in Sant’Agata del Mugello, instead to go to the convent, went to the guards of the vicariate, the flesh was recognized as human flesh, a squad of guards went to the pass, the evidence of the murders was found and the rests of other customers, all the members of the family were hanged, the inn distroyed and burnt in order that it would be no more rebuild. It was opinion that this was a legend, but some years ago near to the pass were found the rests of walls with the evidece of a fire. What it really happened nobody knows. I placed a cache at the pass that you can reach by the path “00” from the Futa pass from west, or from the pass of Il Giogo from east, you can get there from south from the village of Sant’Agata by the path # 44 (bad and dirty road), or from north from the village of Roncopiano (quick way but steep).
