Geocache Description:

This cache series is dedicated to those New Mexico State Police Officers who gave their final measure of devotion to the citizens of the state of New Mexico. Some lost their lives due to violence and others due to traffic and other accidents.


Officer James A. Archuleta (age 27) was killed in an automobile accident when his patrol car struck a cow on US84 near Espanola at approximately 11pm on June 4th, 2006.  He was responding to a local hospital to investigate a shooting when the accident occured. The impact caused the patrol car to overturn and he was ejected from the vehicle. Officer Archuleta was a member of the US Marine Corps Reserve and had served with the State Police for two years. He was survived by his son, daughter and a fiancee.
