This cache is located on the west side of San Juan Island. It is near Lime Kiln "Whale Watch" State Park. A view of Vancouver Island and the Olympic Mountains will appear.
The best place to start you hunt is at N48'31.369 W123'08.734. This is a small parking place across from a small lake. If this is full, there is another place a short distance to the south (there is a foot bridge across the ditch). Both are located between Aerie Dr. and Mt. Dallas Rd. GPS coverage may be thin at the start but it will improve. Be careful as you near the cache, there are cliffs and loose rocks.
*note* if you start from the lighthouse the terrain difficulty would be about 4. Also, a parking fee may apply.
Look for deer, bald eagles, and orca... I saw orca when I placed the cache. If the whales are in the area, tune your radio to 89.1 FM (not sure if this is still active) and listen to their calls. Happy hunting.
