Innsbruck ist die Hauptstadt des österreichischen Bundeslandes Tirol. Sie liegt im Inntal an der Alpen-Transit-Strecke Brenner nach Südtirol (Italien). Der Name leitet sich von "Inn" und "Brücke" ab (Brücke über den Inn - siehe auch Wappen im Hintergrund). Innsbruck ist mit ca. 120.000 Einwohnern nach Wien, Graz, Linz und Salzburg die fünftgrößte Stadt Österreichs, im Ballungsraum Innsbruck leben ca. 190.000 Menschen, dazu kommen ca. 30.000 Studenten und andere Nebenwohnsitzinhaber und täglich rund 3.000 Nächtigungen von Städtetouristen.

Der Cache ist ein einfacher "drive-by" mit herrlicher Aussicht über die Stadt und die Nordkette, den Bergisel mit der Skisprungschanze von Zaha Hadid und der letzte Parkplatz vor der mautpflichtigen Brennerautobahn! Ein idealer Ort, um vor dem Schritt über die Alpen nochmal kurz Rast zu machen. Auf Muggles achten und Kinder sowie Haustiere wegen der nahen Autobahn im Auge behalten!

Innsbruck is the capital city of the federal state of Tyrol in western Austria. It is located in the Inn Valley at the junction with the Wipptal (Sill River), which provides access to the Brenner Pass, some 30 kilometers (19 mi) south of Innsbruck. Located in the broad valley between high mountains, the Nordkette (Hafelekar, 2,334 meters (7,657 ft)) in the north, Patscherkofel (2,246 meters (7,369 ft)) and Serles (2,718 meters (8,917 ft)) in the south, it is an internationally renowned winter sports centre, and hosted the 1964 and 1976 Winter Olympics. Just recently, in January 2012, the 1st Winter Youth Olympics took place here, too. The word bruck derives from the German word "Brücke" meaning "bridge" which leads to "the bridge over the Inn".

The cache is a simple "drive-by" with a unique view over the city and the surrounding mountains, the Bergisel with the ski jump designed by the famous Zaha Hadid and the last stop before the toll highway up to the Brenner! An ideal place for a break. Beware of muggles and mind the nearby motorway when kids or pets are strolling around!
