A puzzle in 10 parts.
1: Meeting for a weekend of caching were four couples: the Davisons, the Carsons, the Bowmans, and the Alexanders.
2: The husbands' names, in no particular order, were Fred, George, Howard, and Isaac.
3: The wives' names, in no particular order, were Victoria, Ursula, Teri, and Sally.
4: Friday night, Fred was jolted awake by the Bowmans, arriving late in their motorhome.
5: Very early Saturday morning, Teri left her RV and walked three rows over for a secret rendezvous with Mr. Davison, whom her husband never met.
6: Saturday, over breakfast in the cafe, Isaac informed his wife that he was not on speaking terms with the Carsons.
7: After breakfast on Saturday, Howard and Fred joined the Alexanders in the Activity Center for a friendly game of Bridge.
8: Late Saturday night, three women heard terrible music from their neighboring RVs. They were Sally, Isaac's wife, and Mrs. Carson.
9: Sunday morning Ursula and Mrs. Davison were the last to find the final cache.
10: While packing to go home Sunday, Victoria's husband remarked aloud that he had no patience for games of chance.
Assign numbers to the names as follows: Add the line number it was introduced in to the position in the list (i.e.. if Tom was introduced in the 5th line and was the second name = 7), then subtract this from the number of letters in the name (Tom = -4. Ignore the "s" on last names, that's not part of their name. Boy, I'm giving too much help here...). Now solve the following formulas: (* means multiply; formulas in parentheses solved first)
((((Sally * Isaac) * Alexander) + Davison) * (Victoria + Carson)) * George = latitude decimal
((((Victoria + Howard) * (Davison - Teri)) * (Bowman + Carson)) * Alexander) - Isaac = longitude decimal
Replace these numbers in the listed co-ords and go find the cache.
1-26-05: Replaced missing cache with an ammo box. It's moved slightly, about 10-12 feet east, but still within accuracy for the co-ords (I was showing 5-8 feet at new spot).
Note: The Do Not Enter signs are to stop people from parking on 18th Ave S (road leading to jail) and entering the park. Crossing from one section of the park to the other is permitted - there's even pedestrian access places in the fences.
