The event will be held on May 1st, otherwise known as May Day. It is recommended you join us at 5:00 PM to set up, but the event will not officially start until 5:30 PM and end around 7:00 PM . Most of us don't necessarilly celebrate May Day, or even quite know what it is. For centuries, many cultures have celebrated May Day as the first day of summer, even though May 1st comes near the start of spring. It’s a time for saying goodbye to the long, cold winter and welcoming warmer weather by gathering flowers, joining together, singing and dancing. Although I myself didn't personally plan any singing or dancing (sorry, guys), we will however practice a more modern Spring tradition. Gathering together, grilling some hamburgers and hotdogs, and swapping our finest swag (tradeables) amongst eachother!
- The BBQ
For this event, all I'm able to offer are the Hamburgers and Hotdogs. That's what makes this a group effort. The more people who are able to donate/bring a dish or food item, the better. So please, if you are able to, review the logs to see what people are bringing, and try bringing something of your choice, that nobody has already offered to bring. This isn't a potluck, so those of you who absolutely aren't able to bring a dish, we will understand, there should be plenty for all. So please, on your log, mention the amount of people who are in your party, and (possibly) the food item you would like to bring.
- The Swag Swap
The Swag Swap will take place once the tables have cleared and most of us have finished eating. For the Swag Swap, it is recommended you bring some of your finest swag. The type of things you'd consider the best tradeables you could ever find in a geocache (within the realms of reality). The better the trade items you have, better trades you can make! Perhaps you'll see some familiar trade items that you've put in geocaches in the past. In order to participate, just set up a small area on the table where you're sitting, and make and take offers from other cachers around you. Think of it as one giant Flea Market Geocache for Tradeables.
