An invigorating rather than strenuous walk to the top of Titington Pike (225m high).
Titlington Pike offers some great views over the Vale of Whittingham and beyond.
If you're reasonably fit then you shouldn't find the climb to the top too much of a struggle - the easiest way is to follow the gravel road up to the mast on the southern side of the hill, and then to go across the hilltop from there.
(Whilst it's possible to park on the roadside near Titlington Pike, you might prefer to park in one of the nearby villages and walk to the hill along the lanes. It's quite scenic along here. These roads are generally not too busy, so you shouldn't be bothered too much by traffic - although you'll need to keep dogs on leads and kids under supervision).
This is the first cache that I've placed - I hope you enjoy hunting for it. Original contents of cache:
* Pencils, sharpener and log book (obviously)
* Playing cards
* Farmyard coasters (which I got from “Lucky’s Cairn” cache near Rothbury)
* Crystal snowflake keyring
* Lego ‘minifig’ keyring
* Guitar picks
* Earplugs (any connection to the previous item???)
Update (9th Dec '04) - I'd originally quoted the co-ordinates for this cache using the OSGB datum. I've updated them now, to use the WSG84 datum instead.
