This is a two part multi-cache located in Oakdale, NY. This cache
will let you explore the area around the Vanderbilt Idle Hour
estate.
This cache is a two-parter located around a residential
area in Oakdale. The coords above will lead you to the
first lock and lock. You'll need the help of a new found
"friend" to get the coords to the cache. The cache is a
small lock and lock with the following items:
-logbook
-Cat in the hat card
-two temp. tattoos
-pokemon card
-duck
This area is also home to the famous Vanderbilt Idle
Hour estate. The estate was once an astounding 900 acres!
The original mansion was burnt down and replaced by the
red brick buildings you'll see when finding this cache.
Vanderbilt's replacement cost him $3 million. After
Vanderbilt's death in 1920 the mansion shifted through
many different owners, including Prohibition ganster
Dutch Schultz. The area was again converted to a
bohemian artist colony for a short while. Nowadays, the
area has little remains and is a regular residential
area.
