Geocache Description:

We love New Jersey which is why we started a blog about our great state. We also love geocaching. Suddenly a flash of inspiration. A series of caches in alphabetical order in towns that start with each letter!! Ambitious yes, but equally fun!

Denville is our "D" town. It's in Morris County and is sometimes called the Hub of Morris County because it lies in the center of the county and is surrounded by I-80, I-287 and US-46. According to Wikipedia, A letter from early Denville settler John Hinchman in the year 1800, explains that the naming of Denville can be traced to a "den" of wild animals located in the swampy regions along the Denbrook and Rockaway River. The animals would bask on a knoll that juts out into the meadows where they were hunted by the native Lenape. This "den", Hinchman states, was the basis for the name of Denville and the Denbrook.

You may see some dens and their inhabitants if you explore the GZ a little more, too!

Bring your own pen.
