Saturday April 19th,
2008
Please come out and help us keep the Appleton parks and trails
clean. This year we will be cleaning Jones Park in downtown
Appleton. Let's give back something to Appleton for letting us
place all these geocaches in the parks and along the trails!
Park Information & Map
On April 19th we will meet at the Registration Station in the
Pavillion - a short walk from the posted coordiantes. There is an
additional waypoint to help find the entrance to the free
off-street parking lot for Jones Park. The park entrance from this
lot is where the Registration Station will be.
Event Schedule:
9:00am - 10:00am Registration/Coffee & Donuts
9:30am Cleanup Begins
12:00pm Group Picture, Prizes, Lunch in the Pavillion
2:00pm Cleanup Ends
2:00pm - 2:15pm Cleanup Pictures, Prizes, Wrap-up
Please come dressed to cleanup trash. Also, please bring your own
gloves and be ready to work.
The Appleton Parks and Recreation Department requires that everyone
fill out a release form prior to working. Adults and Minors. Forms
will be available at registration. To speed up registration, you
may also print out a form and complete it prior to the event. There
are 2 separate forms. One is for Minors under age 18 and the other
is for Adults. A form must be completed for each participant in
your team.

The restrooms will be open for use. Hand sanitizer, snacks, and
bottled water will be available for all participants in the
pavillion. Coffee refills and donuts will be available at the
Registration Station. If you wish, you can bring a food or drink
item to share with your fellow cachers. I will have paper plates,
napkins, & plastic utensils available so please feel free to
bring something to share.
Prizes!!!!
Participating volunteers will have a chance to win some great
prizes. Team Hemisphere Dancer has graciously offered up one of his
hand-crafted "Hemi-Hiker" walking sticks. There is also going to be
5 unregistered trackable items given away. 3 Geocoins & 2 Sets
of Travel Bug Tags. One is a Red Beijing Observatory Geocoin which
is a very NICE coin. I own the Blue one myself (available for
discovery at the event). Also up for grabs is an Unregistered 2007
CITO Geocoin that I recently acquired. I also have some new cache
containers and a Geocaching.com pin to give away.
Post-Cleanup Geocaching Opportunities:
If you have not yet found all of the Geocaches in the Downtown
Appleton area there are many caches within walking distance from
the park.
Please Stay Tuned!
Further details to follow so please place this cache page on your
watch list. I will post a note each time the page is updated so you
are alerted to more details as they are planned. Please post a
"Will Attend" if you can make it to the event and help out and how
many in your "team" will be helping so that I can best plan the
cleanup strategy and other event activities and quantities (snacks
- yes there will be food, bottled water, etc.)
Mark your calendars!
A special thanks goes out to Tim McGuire and the Appleton Parks
and Recreation Department for allowing us to return for a 2nd year,
providing us with the trash bags, and use of the Park's pavillion.
Also, a special thanks to Team Hemisphere Dancer and seldom|seen
for your donations.
