Geocache Description:

An outstanding view of the Eildon Hills otherwise known as "Trimontium". Check out the photograph.

"Trimontium" meaning "The three hills" is clearly visible from the cache site and dates back to the Roman times. The area round the three Eildon Hills was one of the most important Roman centres of the Northern frontier in Britain and was occupied from the late first century AD through to the second. It was extensively excavated in the early years of the twentieth century, producing an outstanding collection of Roman artefacts, from humble wooden tent pegs to highly decorated military parade helmets, all now in the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh.

Either park in Kirk Yetholm or at N55* 30.740 W002* 14.147 which is a recognised parking spot for the Pennine Way.
