Albany's Blair Witch Project Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Wis Kid: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

Albany's night adventure cache hunt. Don't get lost!

I am sure that most are familar with the Blair Witch Project, from seeing the movie. What many may not know is that the woods in Albany have had several people disappear over the years.

Legend says that it all started over a hundred years ago, shortly after Rueben Folsom arrived in the area. We all know the Rueben was known for hunting wolves and such, but little else is known for sure. After all, he lived in a cave!

When seeking the cache, be very carefull. It is said that the spirit of Rueben still roams the local woods, as he still prefers his hermit life style. The coordinates will take you to the service road for the standpipe, where you can park. Do not park on the service road. Using your flashight, find the first marker on this road. Follow the markers down the various trails until you find a double set of them. They are spread out a bit, but very visable. At the intersection of trails, look carefully for the change of direction. Seek out the first container with instructions to find the final location. The final has a large ammo can loaded with swag for the kids. I have placed several glow sticks in the cache so that each child can have one. There is a copy of The Blair Witch Project for the brave FTF.

This hunt will test your skill at using your GPS. Please stay on the finely groomed trails. The first stage is about 10ft off the trail and the final is abou 20-30ft. Please make sure the containers, etc are placed back exactly where you found them to keep them safe from muggles. As the Parks Commissioner, we have worked hard to improve the woods and make the trails safe for all. Well, at least when the sun is up!
