The Wisconsin River originates flows out of Lac Vieux Desert, one of the largest lakes in northern Wisconsin. From this humble beginning, the Wisconsin River journeys 400 miles to empty into the Mississippi River at Prairie du Chien. This is one of the nation's hardest working rivers, supplying water and energy for the state's industries and recreational use.
This cache is located in a small park on Vilas County Forestry land. It is a short distance off the trail; a winter friendly cache with an interesting history and geography lesson. Please be sure to read the Historical Marker nearby.The park has picnic tables, grills, vault toilet, and access for fishing nearby. Sorry, no pets allowed.
