Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Orlando Wetlands Park. The Orlando Wetlands Park is that portion of the Iron Bridge Easterly Wetlands that is open to the public for nature study and peaceful enjoyment. This area is a large-scale artificial wetland designed to treat reclaimed water and provide wildlife habitat. Please note that the listed coordinates are for the parking area and not the actual cache. You are seeking a standard ammo can.

The Wetlands are located 40 minutes east of downtown Orlando in Christmas, on Wheeler Road. Recreational activities include walking, jogging, bird watching, wildflower appreciation, nature photography, bicycling, and hiking on the Florida Trail. The park is open to the public from ½ hour before sunrise until ½ hour before sunset, seven days a week. There are no entrance fees. You may hike, bike, or bring your horse. Dogs, however, are verboten. Make sure you sign in and note that you are geocaching. If you see Mark Sees, the site manager, make sure to thank him for his assistance.

Portions of the wetlands are undergoing re-construction and may be in rough condition. The heavy equipment is gone but there are still some areas with large potholes. This only adds to the thrill of the hunt!

For information about the park, please visit the The Boonies and City of Orlando.

Here is a scientific key to guide you through the process of identifying the actual cache location. There is only one correct location. It requires both serious and frivolous research before you arrive at the site and careful observation once you are here. If you plan carefully and employ a logical strategy, you will travel at least 2.5 miles from the parking lot to the cache. If you aren’t careful, you will travel a much longer distance – PLAN ACCORDINGLY. It can be very wet after a rain and bugs can be fierce in the warmer months. Enjoy the sights and sounds you will experience along the way. If you end up in the middle of a levee, a marsh, a parking lot or another unlikely spot you'll know you have erred.
