res2100: Thanks to all who attended and braved the many hills. We had a record # of people finish the hike. Next hike will probably be on Saturday October 25th and will be the entire 53.4km of the Dufferin Hilands section of the Bruce Trail. Look for it to be published sometime in August. The GC code will be GCZZZ5.

How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

Goal: To hike the last 31.8km of the Caledon Hills section of the Bruce Trail. The Caledon Hills section is a total of 70.6km in length.


After 2 extremely successful Bruce Trail hikes last year, we plan to continue where we left off and hike the rest of the Caledon Hills section. The total distance of the Caledon Hills section is 70.6km long, and we will be hiking the last 31.8km of it to complete this section of the Bruce Trail.

Future hikes will take place approximately every 6 months, and will usually be on the last weekend of April and October.

I estimate that the entire hike will take about 8 hours to complete, so we should be done around 4pm. This is at a moderate 4km\h pace.

If you can't make the entire hike, maybe join us for part of it atleast. You can always drop out along the way if you feel it's too difficult or too long.

Meet at 8am at the posted coordinates, which is on Coolihan Side Rd near Glenn Haffy Rd in Caledon.

Destination is the 70.6km mark of the Caledon Hills section of the Bruce Trail which is at the corner of Mono Centre St and 3rd Line East (N44 01.817 W80 03.453)

Parking: There is more than enough road side parking on Coolihan Side Rd at the start of the hike. I am currently unsure of the parking situation at the end of this section. If you know of available parking at or near the end, please let me know. Hopefully some people will park at the end and carpool back to the starting point both before and after the hike.

It might be wise to stash some supplies at a certain location of your choice along the trail so that you don't have to carry everything with you.

What you should bring: Water and other drinks. Food for lunch, dinner and snacks. GPS. Maps. Camera. Cell Phone. First Aid Kit. Advil/Tylenol.

Track our progress as we hike the trail. Don't feel up for the hike, then join us by watching our progress as we go along. Screen will update every minute, but our progress will be updated every 15 minutes or so. Thanks to northerpenguin for setting this up.
