Overlooking the Hudson River This Cache is on the hillside leading down towards the Hudson River.
The shell of the once beautiful estate that you pass on the right as you walk towards the cache was built by Dr. C.H. Roberts in the late nineteenth century. Dr. Roberts was able to afford building such a large estate by leading the field of dentistry in new directions. He has been cited as the first to use porcelain to treat his patients and he also manufactured "Os-Arificel" which, at one time was used by dentists everywhere. Not stopping there it has been cited that he made a fortune in the railroading business. Dr. Roberts called his estate Cedar Glen after the cedar trees that are in the area. After you walk past Cedar Glen you come to the carriage house on your left hand side. Finally on your right sitting on the side of the carriage road is the Coachmans house. There are other structures throughout Franny Reese Preseve. All are historic and all are unsafe. Look from a safe distance but do not touch. This Geocache is located in the newly created Franny Reese Preserve which is owned by Scenic Hudson. Park your car at the the end of Haviland Rd at the Johnson Iorio Memorial Park which is at the western end of the Mid Hudson Bridge.
