Geocache Description:

Suantou old train

Here, Garlic, is called "Suan-tou" in Chinese. The name originated from the meaning of "in the list of rich man number, the village stands at the head", "as the head" for short. "As the head" is called as "Suan-Tou" and sounds like the garlic pronounced in Chinese.

Suantou sugar factory (built in 1905) had been the third largest sugar factory of Taiwan in past days but now it turned into sugarcane culture area. This area retains an old station and many kinds of old trains. You can visit the centenary sugar factory to realize how sugar is extracted from canes. You can also pay some charges to take the tourist train which is transformed from sugarcane train. By the way, don't forget to taste the famous Tai-Sugar ice candy here.

By the Suantou Sugarcane Culture Area, there had been an iron bridge several years ago but now is being rebuilt to be a suspension bridge.

The cache box is smaller than a film box, with a magnet and no pen in it. Remember to bring your pen to log.

Update 2008.10.13
The cache is gone! Muggles often take rest at the original loaction. I placed a new cache in new loaction: N 23° 28.851 E 120° 17.812.

The previous hunters can also come to get a score.
BTW, the cable-stayed bridge here is designed for bicyclers, enjoy it!
