Geocache Description:

Located in the Arboretum. The coords take you to the first part of the multi and contains the coords for the Piggery part of the multi. The Piggery contains the coords for the final Pig Pen. The Final part of this multi is a large Lock-n-Lock and contains Pigs and other trade items.
Congratulations to Kaching Karen for a FTF

THE BEGINING;
The initial part of the cache is a waterproof match container. I stuck some magnets on it, and wrapped it in black Duck Tape. It contains a card with the coordinates for "The Piggery".
THE PIGGERY:
And the pigs were locked in their rusty pens.
All that remains of the Old Piggery, are those rusty pens. The Piggery was a large three-story barn, heated by burning wood. For a number of years, the sale of Piggery- raised pure bred pigs across the state was a lucrative source of income for the farm. The Piggery burned down and was immediately rebuilt in 1904. After it burned again in 1944, the raising of pigs was discontinued. My Great Grandmother was a nurse at the Hospital when the Piggery burnt in 1944. She told me that the sound of those poor pigs screaming haunted her for the rest of her life. She said they sounded like humans crying out. How sad :(

The access road across the farm, now the northern boundary of the Arboretum, continues to be known as "The Piggery Road." Remnants of the Piggery are still visible on the trail to the northwest of Viles Pond.

A slaughterhouse and rendering plant were located near the Piggery and there were several other barns and sheds used for various purposes. Also near the Piggery was a small granite quarry where a stone crusher was installed. The crusher provided materials for building roads, walks, driveways, floors, and foundations for the institution. In later years, the quarry was used as a dump and was eventually filled in.

All my Pigs found this to be a sad place, so they moved "The Pig Pen" to a peaceful place.

THE PIG PEN:
"This little piggy went home."
The Pig Pen is where the Pigs live. A lot of my caches have pigs in them. This is where they came from! TB "Sir Loin Of Pork" is from here and the TB, "Pickle Pete The Flashing Pig", was kicked out of the pig pen for partying too much! The Pig Pen has ample room for travel bugs and other items.

After finding "The Pig Pen", why not go for "The Arboretum" Cache? Finding all these caches will take you in a big loop around the Arboretum. If you see Dave the grounds keeper make sure to say hi. He's real friendly, interested about geo-caching and chock full of information about the area.
