Haines Apple Tree Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

blazerfan: I'll give this spot up for someone in the area. I would contact the local Moose lodge as they have adopted this place to keep cleaned up.

Geocache Description:

October 9, 1855 was a bloody day in the Rogue Valley.

This was the sight of the Haines homestead 150 years ago the historic marker tells the rest. On this day several homesteaders in the valley faced the same fate. Cache is a black mint tin.

According to this website Haines apple tree is the second oldest apple tree in Oregon. The website also gives some additional history... though I'd recomend further reading on this subject to get a better understanding of what was happening in the Valley at that time.
