ShiouGuLuan River, the biggest river in eastern Taiwan, flows
its way 103km. Along the 22km section of the river from the RuiSuei
Bridge to Rainbow Bridge at its mouth, the river drops 65m and
boils over more than 20 sets of rapids. White-water rafting began to develop here in
1981, and this is still the most popular rafting area in all of
Taiwan.
The entire rafting trip takes three to four hours. The water is
abundant all year round, and the scenery is beautiful along the
riverside. The busiest months for rafting operators are May through
October. The last rafting boat departs before 3:00 p.m. each
day.
