The Edgar B. Speer was originally launched in May 1980, a part of the U.S. Steel Company fleet.
It became a part of the Algoma Central Marine fleet in 1994. The boat is a self un-loading bulk carrier.
The Boat is 1004 feet in length and has a maximum load capacity of 73,700 tons. It is powered by 2 V16 cylinders, 9,630 horsepower diesel engine.
