How Geocaching Works
This is an arresting location.
Years ago as we all know there was, as there is today, traffic between Chicago and southern Wisconsin. Folks like Dion "Deanie" O'Banion, George "Bugs" Moran, Frank "Tight Lips" Gusenberg , Frank Capone, and many other famous folks also were among the travelers.
They didn't have the nice interstate system we have today, only Hwys 12 and 14 for their trips. The story goes that many a traveler would stop here just to be sure they were traveling alone. ie no one was following them from the city. Back then the landscape was rather flat as I43 wasn't in the line of sight yet.
So when you stop remember to look over your shoulder to be sure.
Also when you stop you might want to avoid taking your cache mobile into the area, especially if there is snow around. You will need a tow truck for sure. There is a wide shoulder on the south bound side of the main road that is the preferred parking space.
Update 4/4/08: A new container. This should be a bit more difficult than before. PLEASE use the handle to replace the container. That is the part that helped you get the container out with. And there is no room in this inn for a marking stick so bring your own.
Permission was received from the Wisconsin DOT to place this cache at this abandoned wayside on December 3, 2007.
April 4, 2008 a new container and I've upped the diffucilty and lowered the terrain.
29 June, 2008 I didn't think this new location would be so challenging so I've upped the difficulty. Keep on trying...
April 30, 2011
I've replaced the log with a new dry one!
Boys and Girls when you open the container the log should come out with the base. The base is the smaller of the two pieces. You should also notice that it is easy to unscrew.
When you go to reassemble it. Start out by rolling the log into a tight roll. It should be placed into the base. That's the smaller of the two pieces. Then screw them together. It should not take any force to screw them together either.
