Geocache Description:

This is the fourth in a series of caches around the lovely South Yorkshire village of Wentworth located between Rotherham and Barnsley. The series aims to introduce the visitor to some of the places of interest to be found on the Wentworth Estate - a veritable jewel set amongst the otherwise mostly industrial landscape of South Yorkshire.

This virtual cache requires you to find 2 answers around the Old and New Churches in Wentworth Village.

The coordinates given place you on the path to the main door of the Old Churchyard amongst the gravestones.

To claim the cache you will have to e-mail me with the correct answer to the 2 following questions:

1) At the old church find the gravestone for the Wentworth shopkeeper who died in 1804 and e-mail me with the exact inscription on the back of the gravestone immediately to the right

2) Then go up to the New church and e-mail me with the date cast into the downpipe gutter collectors

More reading/background regarding the background and construction of Old/New Churches is available at (visit link) which is well worth visiting before your expedition to this and the other Wentworth Wander caches to make your day more interesting and worthwhile.

There are 2 nearby excellent hostelries in Wentworth should you decide to make this the last of your caches in the area, The George and Dragon and, The Rockingham Arm. Check out the Wentworthvillage site for more details
