Coconuts Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

kelly@9: All good things must come to an end. Sad to have to archive this one now, was hoping it would make it to 20 years this fall at least, but it is clear to me that it cannot continue as the more frequent and in-depth cleaning at the park is causing the cache container to disappear every couple weeks, which is just not sustainable for me to keep replacing. Even when I tried moving it from its original location to a new (but similar) one, it still kept going missing, so time to say good-bye I think.

Thanks to flowerman for letting me adopt this so many years ago, and thanks to the over 1800 folks who have found it over the past 19.5 years, hope you had fun. The view has sure changed here over the years, I would never have predicted the redevelopment that led to the creation of the Wharf, nor the building of the nearby Spy Museum.

Geocache Description:

A Washington, D.C. micro-mini park dedicated to Benjamin Banneker. Perhaps the closest traditional, physical (i.e. not virtual) geocache to the National Mall and Smithsonian museums.

It's just a short stroll down the L'Enfant Plaza promenade from the National Mall to this cache, which has a view of the D.C. waterfront, East Potomac Park, and across the river to the Pentagon, Air Force Memorial and National Airport in Virginia.

Micro, log only cache -- bring a pen!

Also, please do not put anything else in the cache container except the log sheet!
