This cache has been archived.

Nomex: Hi Latitude 32
As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm temporarily archiving this to keep it from continually showing up in search lists. Just contact us when you have the cache repaired, [RED]and assuming it still meets the guidelines[/RED], we'll be happy to unarchive it.

You may email me at via the link to my profile on the log. [red]Please be sure to include the cache name and GCxxxx number, or better yet, the URL of the cache page.[/red]

Thanks for your cooperation!

Geocache Description:

This Treasure Chest... YES! A TREASURE CHEST!!! Is hidden down in Horsethief Canyon, very close to Pine Creek.

I actually grabbed the coords for this cache two years ago as the end result of a very complicated multi-cache.

Well, call me lazy I guess... Never got around to placing all of the clues that would have lead the cacher here, not to mention the fact that I took a bit of a vacation from caching!

From the lot at the top of Horsethief Canyon I started my trek down the dirt fire road, to the marked canyon trailhead. From there stay on the trail and hike to the base of the canyon. Once on the canyon floor, just stay on the trail until you reach the creek. This portion of the creek flows almost all year, with the exception of very dry seasons. It was flowing pretty good the day I placed this cache. The other creeks that branch off into the canyon were dry. The fly fishing club I belong to has actually re-introduced trout fry into Pine Creek.

Once at the creek, you will want to stay on the west side. There is a small trail there that you can follow. This trail takes you pretty close to the cache.

There is a theme to this cache. The container is a pretty good sized TREASURE CHEST, so please only exchange like items. No Happy Meal toys! There is sooo much stuff in this cache, if you don't have something to exchange that fits the theme, take something anyway. Just don't get carried away. A lot of work went into this cache. I want cachers to enjoy this for many years to come.

Terrain ratings are subjective. I rated this as a 3, but for folks that do mostly cach and dash type stuff, it might feel more like a 4. If you do a lot of hiking and backpacking, this might feel more like a 2-2.5.

Bear in mind that this is a wilderness area and some things can happen! Please try not to do this alone. If you do, make sure someone knows where you are. Bring PLENTY OF WATER, and a snake stick!

Original contents are, 100's of European coins, some over 100 years old, jewelery, and other treasures!
