Nice little diversion for a break in the drive. Please keep your dogs on the South Side of the parking lot in the dog friendly area. Also, keep your kids on the outside of the fence and rock wall.
I have moved the cache away from the original location due to thieves stealing it several times.
To start off, if you are afraid of height, stay away from this one. You will need a compass and maybe do some research.
I started this one by parking at 44°23.432'N X 121°11.584'W. Please stop and read the sign.
Then you will need to find a large Populus trichocarpa some where near here. From here, you will need to shoot a compass bearing - set declination at 20 degrees East - of 258 degrees and travel around 280 feet to a large object on the south side of a circle of similar objects.
From here, you will need to shoot a bearing of 293 degrees by about 95 feet. This will put you at the largest Populus nigra var italica in a circle of the same .
Now standing in front of the object, shoot a bearing of 10 degrees to a set of stairs.
From the bottom of the stairs, there is a galvanized post. Starting there, count the green post equal to double the number of stairs you just came down. (Green post, white tops only please.) From the correct number of post, you will need to shoot a bearing of 293 degrees magnetic for a distance of 225 feet, Plus or minus a few.
The cache is around 0.30 miles as the crow fly’s from the parking spot and is mostly flat, if you do it right. If you do it wrong, I am sorry. I will bet you wish you had wings.
Take a lunch and enjoy the park after you locate the cache.
