The cache is on the Lomond Hills, offering fantastic views in all directions of the Kingdom of Fife, and beyond, on a clear day. Clouds and mist tend to cling to these hills on a dreich day, so it's worth planning a visit on a clear day. Park at Craigmead car park N56 14.496 W003 14.859 where there are toilets, an information board and a picnic area.
From here you can either walk to East or West Lomond. Just below the summit of East Lomond there is an old limekiln with a short trail and information boards around it. Limestone quarrying was once a thriving industry on the Lomond Hills. The stone was cut from the ground around the kiln, resulting in strange undulations in the carpet of heather, and processed on site.
However, heading west towards West Lomond, which is the site of an ancient fort, takes you to the cache. Those with the time and energy should carry on to the top of West Lomond, as should Trigpoint baggers, where the views are tremendous. There are numerous options for refreshments in Falkland village.
