The Muppet Show, a half-hour long musical comedy variety show, aired on TV from 1976-1981. The action in each episode included onstage acts and frantic backstage activity among emcee Kermit the Frog, his Muppet friends and a live celebrity. The creation of puppeteer Jim Henson, The Muppet Show introduced us to many endearing characters, many of whom are being celebrated with caches in and around the Whitnall Park/Root River Parkway area.
Kermit
Kermit the Frog is the most iconic of all the Muppets. As host of The Muppet Show, he typically introduced acts by waving his arms and shouting “Yaaaaay.” In addition to emceeing the show, he was the glue that held it together. Not afraid of the stage, Kermit regularly chatted or sang duets with the guest stars. He was relentlessly pursued by Miss Piggy, but he generally rebuffed her advances.
