Geocache Description:

Welcome back to the Lil Big Econ State Forest!  The rednecks have been up to their shenanigans, slinging their detritus all over our forest.  Let's clean it up! Saturday, 08-23-14 from 0800am to 4:00pm

The posted coordinates are for the 4:00pm meeting site. We'll all meet up here following the clean up, to schmooze, tell lies, and compare trash piles. Bring whatever trash you gather, to this location. If you find that your trash bag is getting too heavy, look for one of the white "LE" signs throughout the forest and leave it. Let me know where, and I'll go get it.

If you need trash bags, I'll have a whole bunch of them at the below listed Canoe Launch starting point. I hope to get there around 7:00am, and splash my 'yak by 8:00am. I recommend everybody bring gloves, a hat, pokey sticks, stout boots, bug spray, a cell phone and a whole bunch of water. If you are a camping type, I've drawn a permit for the whole weekend. Just get with me to get a copy.

The starting coordinates are entirely up to you, based solely upon your preferences. Also, the starting times are entirely up to you. Adjust your starting times accordingly, so you can meet us at the end of the event.

For those who have paddle crafts:
I'll be launching at the Lil Big Econ Canoe Launch County Park, located at the intersection of County Rd 419 and Willingham Rd, in Oviedo, under the east side of the bridge, at around 8:00am. N28* 39.339 / W081* 10.186 From there, it's about 8 miles of twisting, turning, shallow, alligator infested water to the take out point at the Snow Hill Rd bridge. N28* 40.663 / W 081* 06.856

For those who prefer pedal power:
The mountain biking starts at the Jones East Trailhead, on Snow Hill Rd, just south of the bridge. N 28* 40.408 / W081* 06.839 Over 12 miles of winding singletrack, with challenging rises and steep falls offer everything a mountain biker could possibly want. Make sure you study the trail map thoroughly before you start, and create a tracklog, so you don't get lost.

For the LPC lover in all of us:
LPC = Leather Personnel Carrier, AKA: Hiking boots!
For many folks, there is no better way to experience what Momma Nature has to offer than on foot. Trailwalking is a time honored tradition in Florida state forests, and this one is no exception. The Kolokee Trail is about 4 miles long, starting at the Barr St Trailhead on County Rd 426 between Oviedo and Geneva. N28* 41.242 / W081* 09.556 You can hoof this trail east to the pavilion. Another, longer option for the LPC lovers is the Florida National Scenic Trail, which starts on Lockwood Blvd between County Rd 419 and County Rd 426, in Oviedo, N28* 40.029 / W081* 10.567 and joins the Kolokee Trail. This will add another 2.5 miles to your hike.

Maximum Exposure:
For those who like the most CITO bang for your buck, there are a couple spots which are desperately in need of folks willing to go in by foot, journeying less than a mile, hoofing out gobs and gobs of beer bottles. The locals have adopted two locations in the forest for their drinking pleasure, and these two spots probably have more trash than the hiking, biking and paddling sections combined. Are you up for it? If so, you can either head to the Canoe Launch and hoof the trail north, or you can head to the Snow Hill Rd Bridge and hoof the trail west, on the south bank. Either location is guaranteed to afford you all the trash you can handle.

Hope to see you there!
