P&K - Sunset Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

duganrm: I just don't seem to find the time get down there to move the cache again. The cache is still physically there (but sometimes hard to find) but is in an area marked as habitat recovery per someone who deleted their log.

If someone does verify that this is not in a habitat recovery area, please let me know and I will unarchive the listing. If I can get to it, I will still try to make it down there to shift the cache again as well.

Geocache Description:

Situated on one of the most beautiful beaches in southern California. Requires a hike on a beach of around 30 to 45 minutes to get there from the parking. Watch for the tides or you may get stuck!

The cache is an Illy espresso coffee can (replaced by a peanut butter jar). The original content was:
- Canadian 25c
- US 10, 5 and 1c
- San Diego Keychain holder
- CD Opener
- Motorcycle toy
- Pad
- Pencil
- Ruber band
- Envelope

We hope you enjoy this beach as much as we did this past year! This is the first beach we discovered when we arrived in southern California and this is one of our favorite.

We suggest you park in the Torrey Pines State park parking or just beside. There is a $6 fee if you decide to get in the park with your car.

Make sure you check for the tides before you go for the walk. Look at the ranger gate, they always write the current day's tide and sun information. Alternatively, you can get look here: (visit link)

It was hard to find a suitable place for the cache on the beach itself. We had to walk longer than usual to get there, past the part of the beach usually occupied by nude males. Depending on the time of the year, this may not be a suitable walk to do with your kids. It looks like some measures were taken not so long ago to avoid this, but you have been warned.

The best time to go there is when the sun is going down, thus the "Sunset" name. You will witness breathtaking light on the rocks and a mist that will enlighten your soul.

We have put this cache because we would like to continue enjoying views from this beautiful beach. So please post your best pictures when you log your visit!

updated info on May 4th 2008.
Cache is now a small plastic Mayo jar at the base of the hill. Please do not go up the hill. I did not add any items to the cache and ask that nothing is left for now due to the amount of times the cache has gone missing. I also forgot to leave a small pencil in the cache so please bring your own pen/pencil.
